Breast & Pec Adhesions and Lymphatic drainage

5 ways to improve breast vitality & lymphatic drainage for more energy, less pain, better posture, and so much more.

The topic of of Lymphatic Drainage is slowly gaining more mainstream awareness. Women are realizing that it is an important part of optimizing and caring for their health and body.

In getting to work with all the strong amazing women that I got to work with in Fitness and in Fascial Stretch Therapy sessions, I am led to share an expanded view on this topic.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

The topic of breast health is generally only addressed in conventional medicine when a woman finds a lump in her breast, or has a genetic history of Breast Cancer. The only other avenue Breasts are addressed heavily is in spiritual ancient medicine as the breasts directly relate to the energy of the Heart Chakra. However, moving and circulating our breasts and lymphatic system regularly, should be spread into the mainstream. WHY?

Many women express concerns like neck tightness, repetitive shoulder injuries, TMJ, ‘bad posture,’ water retention, tender breasts during periods, and low energy levels. Usually conventional treatments would address each concern separately and we often don’t factor in the effect of chest and pec exercises into the equation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BREASTS?

The breasts are sources of vitality for women. They are energetic cauldrons. We want to care for these cauldrons, and keep the tissue around them active, stimulated, and circulating. We want to open the cauldrons up, free them from their straps of discomfort. We want to breathe into the cauldrons. We want to wash and massage the cauldrons during our cleansing rituals.

WHAT ARE BREAST & PEC ADHESIONS?

The breasts sit on top of the pectoral muscle. Between the breast and the pectoral muscle, is a layer of fascia.

Many women who workout do exercises like pushups, bench press, etc. What happens is the pectoralis muscle becomes stronger, tighter, shorter and so does the fascial tissue. While strong pecs are ok (i guess), we want to massage, stretch, and release tension in the pec and fascial tissue to avoid all 3 layers from becoming sticky and stiff, as this will limit lymphatic and energetic flow into and out of the breasts.

A build-up of tension in the pec tissue leads to reduced circulation, reduced lubrication, tightness, tenderness, and overall reduced vitality

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE DON’T CIRCULATE, STRETCH & RELEASE BREAST & PEC TISSUES?

  • Vitality & energy decreases as flow is restricted

  • Shortened pec muscles and rounded posture leading to increased neck and shoulder injuries

  • Lymphatic flow is disrupted.

  • Headaches, tender breasts.

  • And because the breast tissue is connected to the Platysma muscle (neck and jaw muscle), jaw tension (TMJ) increases.

  • Lastly, as relating the breasts to the heart chakra, I have personally experienced the correlation between heartbreak, a closed heart chakra, and pec tightness. Read blog on Dearmouring

5 RECOMMENDATIONS TO KEEP BREAST TISSUES & YOUR LYMPHATIC SYSTEM VITAL & FLOWING!

1. Cleanse and move the breasts around in circular motions, in the shower with soap. Use soap & loose fist to massage under the armpit.

2. Avoid tight fitting bras, sports bras, and go braless whenever possible!

3. Self-massage the upper pec using your hands, or a crystal wand with oil. Stretch & gently pull the breasts toward the middle, sides, up and down. Feel free to use a drop of high quality essential oils that relates to the heart chakra. DM me for referrals for someone who can provide you with more info on which essential oils would be best.

4. Bounce gently. This helps Lymphatic Drainage. Or use a gentle massage gun around pecs and underarms.

5. Limit pec and chest exercises!!! In my opinion it is just not necessary for women to strengthen their pecs. Like why is that Bench Press PR, chest fly, or strengthening the pec important (DM me if you would like to talk about this more). Side note, even some yoga poses contain pec activation.

Do these regularly. Make it your own. Add anything you feel you want to.

In closing, breast and pec adhesions can spiral into a plethora of hidden issues including common ones like repetitive shoulder injuries, lymphatic congestion, and low energy levels. Incorporating some of these as rituals will be greatly re-energizing, cleansing, and revitalizing for your body, mind, and spirit which is what Optimal Health is all about.

If you found this interesting, please share it with other women as you never know who can benefit.
