One of the Biggest Mistakes of the Fitness Industry

Hello King's and Queens. My post today comes after years of dodging various traps within the fitness industry.

Let's visit some of the Fitness Industry traps (I may or may not have, fallen into):

Fasted workouts! Despite having a Kinesiology science degree I fell in to this one, for years. It contributed to internal deterioration, and for very little external reward.

Starvation, not cool.

Next, hmmm let's see…. Marathon training. Another trap. More discreet because you're "training." There's a plan, it's progressive, badaboom.

However, no weekend warrior these days has a Nervous System to adequately repair all the oxidative stress caused by running. There are much healthier, better, and long-term ways to get lean and manage stress.

If you chose to do a marathon because you simply LOVE running and know you just need to do it, please be mindful to:.

  • Add more fuel

  • Add more stretching

  • Add more recovery.

  • Add more antioxidants

  • Add more sleep.

See my blog “Exercise as the only form of Stress Management

There are a few more industry traps such as:

Fitness competitions, Chicken breast being one of the best sources lean protein, and Cardio machines….

Which leads me into the BIGGEST mistake of the Fitness Industry:

Making people believe that exercise needs to be done in a gym, lifting weights.

I understand you're not going to want to drop your gym routine upon reading this. Please don't! Instead, remember your gym workouts have a catabolic effect on the body. You want to loop this into an anabolic effect by providing the appropriate environment for your body to lay down that fat-burning tissue, called muscle.

Mmmmmmuscle, needs:

  • Hydration. Muscle proteins require H20. Fill your cells up with water so it's there when your body needs it.

  • Nutrition. Avoid fasted workouts. ALWAYS replenish post-workout with simple carbs and protein sources. Remember any medications, pills, foreign substances, and chemicals acidify the body and bring down the function of your gut over time. Your gut is your operating system. I encourage you to heal any stagnation here.

  • Stretched and Lubricated tissues. Crowded tissues = blocked energy & circulation. You need these pathways to be open, loose, & spacious. Muscle aches are a sign of crowded, dehydrated tissues in my opinion.

  • Breath. Oxygen. Don't hold it. Keep it moving.

  • Sleep. Restoration..

In closing, exercise is therapy, medicine, healing. Honor your body and explore your abilities. In and out of a gym.

If you need help in an area or have questions, get help from someone you trust who can ask you the right questions to steer you in the best direction for y o u.

Yes, I am available and greatly enjoy steering you to avoid the various traps, please see RE-FOCUS sessions. I have space for 2 women in Dec. If this is you, please feel free to send me an email if you have any questions.

Rest well ya beauts!
