AND HOW DOES IT RELATE TO HEALTH & FITNESS?
Dearmouring - releasing energy blockages, old conditioned beliefs, injuries and tension from the body allowing people to access their potential and get to their next level.
DEARMOURING PREFACE
In mainstream Fitness, we encourage people to ‘be consistent,’ ‘train hard,’ monitor calories burned per workout and then aim to be in a ‘calorie deficit.’ Unfortunately this approach doesn’t help unlock our ACTUAL potential. Infact, most people who follow this will only get to 20-30% of their ideal body. Even if they are consistent, without dearmouring (which we will talk more about) there will be multiple energy drains physically, mentally, (and spiritually - not to get to woo woo)
When the 30-day program is over, or when you decide not to continue with your Personal Training anymore, you will likely slowly revert, get side-tracked, lose some progress, or at best - stay the same. This is because no actual health coaching takes place in Personal Training. People revert to their habits of overworking, under-prioritizing workouts, missing meals, and other self-limiting behaviours, hence a plateau at 20-30% of their potential.
WHEN YOU START DEARMOURING
Dearmouring is the process of optimizing your health & body. It is removing the protective patterns that are no longer serving you. While these protective shields are there to help you, and ultimately save you, they are survival-based.
When we are operating in survival, our body function becomes desensitized.
When you start dearmouring, your body becomes receptive to the exercise, the healthy foods, you release pain, fatigue, and injuries, and lastly, together we are able to identify the patterns that are keeping you at 20-30% of your ideal body!
MORE HISTORY & BACKGROUND ON ‘DEARMOURING’
Wilhelm Reich was an Austrian doctor of medicine and the most brilliant of the second generation of psychoanalysts after Sigmund Freud. He developed the concept of ‘Armour’ to reflect people’s coping patterns.
Armour is a metaphorical term used to describe bodily adaptations that take place to protect us.
We develop different defence habits, hobbies, and attitudes. Our unique style of defence becomes a uniform we wear -a suit of armor. For many of my clients, they are the high achiever entrepreneurial types AKA the best type of people to work with! They really have a lot of success by the time we’re done together.
Here are other examples.
Example: We can accumulate armour around our heart (after experiencing heart-break).
Example: We can develop armour around our authentic voice & expression.
Example: We can even accumulate physical armour such as fat, muscle, tension pattern, and injuries.
Remember is to keep you safe, keep you surviving.
WHY DEARMOURING IS IMPORTANT
Without dearmouring, we are more likely to find difficulty in escaping our patterns. Patterns that prevent us from achieving our best health:
COPING MECHANISMS
Emotional eating, drinking, procrastinating, overexercising, overworking, obsessive diligence, stress addictions, other forms of escapism/sabotage that prevent you from reaching your truest, most optimal health.
HORMONE IMBALANCES
From a chemical and hormonal standpoint, without dearmouring we experience stagnation in the physical body. Stagnation means the vitality of the body slows down. Armour can cause the function of the organs like the liver, digestive system, reproductive system, lymphatic system, musculo-skeletal system, immune system, to becomes slower which is when we start seeing difficulties in fat-burning, muscle metabolism, digestion, hormone balance, sleep, and much more.
WOMEN’S HEALTH ISSUES
Other ways the body shows signs of stagnation when we don’t dearmour are though Women’s health issues, hypo, hyper levels of anything, skin/hair/nail health, period issues, resulting in depression, infertility, inability to experience pleasure resulting in an overall need to disconnect from the body.
EMOTIONAL DISASSOCIATION
Our body also expresses stagnation is emotional disassociation, as the armour gets heavier and heavier, the capacity to persevere and express and feel emotions, decreases. This is undesirable as these emotions continue to get trapped in the fascial tissue leading to tightness and injuries.
HOW WILL DEARMOURING HELP MY HEALTH & FITNESS?
Most of the women/people that come to me have quite a bit of experience in fitness. They’ve tried all the programs, cleanses, and diet plans, had personal trainers. They don’t need to learn about portion sizes or how many sets and reps to do. They have done this.
My discovery process allows us to identify people’s blindspots. The areas their personal trainer hasn’t necessary considered (because that’s not really his/her job).
Getting clarity on what is actually preventing your progress is key to breaking the glass ceiling of this current fitness level.
For many years I was stuck at the same skinny-enough yet not toned and strong looking body even though I trained very consistently. There was armour that was so under the radar, even someone as self aware and educated as me couldn’t have seen it!!!
